About

The Southern Ontario Defence Innovation Network (SODIN) is a consortium of McMaster University, the University of Waterloo, Western University, the University of Guelph, and the University of Windsor. Its purpose is to strengthen collaboration among the Department of National Defence (DND), Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), industry partners and organizations such as the Ontario Defence Association (ODA), and Canada's research community through a secure, shared research environment.

Implementation

Activation: Security accreditation, facility preparation, and staffing (currently underway)

Connection: Secure network infrastructure and partner integration (2026/27)

Operations: Collaborative projects, innovation sprints, and technology development activities with DND, DRDC, industry, and SMEs (2026/27)
